MOROCCO MIGRATION

No more migrants on Mount Gurugú waiting to cross the border

Nador (Morocco), Jul 15 (EFE) - (Camera: Mohamed Siali / María Traspaderne) Three weeks after the tragedy in Melilla, there are no longer migrants on Mount Gurugú waiting to cross the fence. They have to be sought dozens of kilometers away, where they live in the streets digesting what happened with a common reflection: "We are determined to get through, but not like this".

SOUNDBITES IN ORDER OF APPEARANCE:

1 - Ayub Abdellah, 22-year-old Sudanese:

"The losses have been great and many young people died. We will not repeat the scenario of the irruption with force (in Melilla)."

"Each person is free to think what he wants, but many young people are against the irruption with force (in Melilla). The assault with force is ruled out, but our aspirations will be realized at any price. We are going to Europe at any price".

2 - Herman Mbatchou, Cameroonian of the association Movement Uplifted Africa (MUA, of aid to migrants):

"Since the assault on Nador, everyone calls us (sub-Saharan migrants) Sudanese. Whether you have papers or not, there is prejudice from the local population. Some landlords have started to threaten sub-Saharans (...) because of prejudice. If you want to take a vehicle (to travel) they ask for papers. I have never seen civilians asking a civilian for papers".
