Mexico protects its jaguar reserve with new park and the National Guard

Cancun (Mexico), Apr 13 (EFE).- The Mexican government is using the militarized National Guard and a new park to protect the Jaguar Flora and Fauna Protection Area, the second largest environmental reserve in the Mexican Caribbean, in Quintana Roo, and the one most at risk of invasion because it is in one of the main tourist and speculation zones.

The Jaguar Flora and Fauna Protection Area (APFF Jaguar), in the municipality of Tulum, has existed by decree since July 2022 and covers an area of 2,249 hectares, and within the buffer zone, which is 282 hectares, are the archaeological zones of Tulum and Tankah.
