MEXICO PROTESTS WOMEN

Mexican women rally against conviction of self-defence homicide in rape case

Mexico City, May 19 (EFE).- Various women's groups marched in Mexico City on Friday to demand the revocation of the sentence of six years and two months against Roxana Ruiz, who killed her rapist in self-defence.

The contingent marched from the Glorieta de las Mujeres que Luchan (Women Who Fight Roundabout) to the emblematic Angel of Independence, both located on the main avenue of the Mexican capital, Paseo de la Reforma.

The women chanted slogans and raised various banners and posters, mainly demanding justice, with messages such as: "Defending my life is not a crime", "Roxana, you are brave, never a criminal" and "You are not alone", among others. (Camera: AMÉRICA NERI).
