MEXICO ELECTIONS

Mexican opposition presidential candidate Gálvez claims victory as vote counting continues

Mexico City, Jun 2 (EFE).- Opposition presidential candidate Xóchitl Gálvez declared her victory on Sunday and assured that she ‘already won’ the elections.

However, she emphasised the need to ‘count every last vote’ due to the fierce competition against ‘authoritarianism and power’, and expressed concern about possible irregularities.

Gálvez attributed his victory to the high voter turnout of over 80 per cent in many polling stations.

Although there are still no official results from the National Electoral Institute (INE), Gálvez thanked citizens for their historic turnout and urged election officials to remain vigilant until all the votes are counted. (Camera: AMÉRICA NERI).

Millions of citizens came out to vote for life, for truth, and for freedom. Congratulations to all the voters. (0.02-0.13).

Therefore, the results clearly show that we have already won. Given that people are still voting, and out of respect for the citizens who are still at the polling stations counting the ballots, we will wait for the official results from the INE. This is simply to ratify this victory. We are going to defend your vote. We will not give up. We will defend this victory. Thank you for your vote. Thank you for your trust. Thank you for accompanying me on this long journey from Tepatepec to the National Palace. Life, truth, and freedom have won. Let us have faith in God and trust in democracy. (0.14-1.13).
