Mexican media fails to portray reality of trans community, says Mexican filmmaker

Guadalajara, Jun 8 (EFE).- Mexican media fails to address the violent reality faced by the trans community, said Mexican filmmaker Gisela Delgadillo on Thursday in a talk at the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG).

"It is a reality that is neither seen nor known in the media. It adds to the stigma and that is what we least need when talking about the community, in this case the trans women. They are exposed to a lot of violence and lose support networks during their childhood," Delgadillo assured.

The event runs through Friday, Jun 9. (Camera: JOSÉ LUIS GONZÁLEZ).
