Mérida has the largest wastewater treatment plant in Europe using microalgae

Mérida (Spain), Jun 24 (EFE) - The company Aqualia has launched in Mérida the largest wastewater treatment plant with microalgae in Europe, and one of the largest in the world, with a treatment capacity of two million liters per day, in addition to producing high-value biomass.

The biofactory, with a surface area of 20,000 square meters, was inaugurated on Monday at a ceremony attended by Aqualia's executives and the Mayor of Mérida, Antonio Rodríguez Osuna.
