Massive march in Chiapas to demand justice for indigenous priest's assassination

San Cristobal de Las Casas, Mexico, Nov 3 (EFE).- More than 20,000 indigenous people, residents and civil organisations marched on Sunday to demand justice for Father Marcelo Perez, a Tzotzil priest and human rights defender murdered on Oct. 20.

The Diocese of San Cristobal and the marchers highlighted the increase in violence in the region, with organised crime attacking communities, human rights defenders and clergy.

The march concluded in the city centre with a mass and tributes to Father Marcelo, amid calls for peace and justice from local and federal authorities. (Camera: MITZI FUENTES).
