Marl's plastic recycling plant processes 200,000 tonnes per year from Germans

Marl (Germany), Jun 3 (EFE/EPA) - (Camera: Freidemann Vogel) The Interzero plant in Marl processes around 200,000 tonnes of plastic waste per year.

According to the German Federal Environment Agency, 99.4 percent of all plastic waste collected in Germany was recycled in 2019. Of the 6.28 million tonnes of total plastic waste, 46.6 percent was used as raw material, 52.8 percent was used as energy, for example in waste incineration plants, and only around 0.6 percent was disposed of in landfills.

World Environment Day 2023 will be celebrated on 5 June and will focus on "solutions to plastic pollution".
