María Esther Ponce, from anonymity to pioneer of women's soccer in Argentina

Buenos Aires, Jan 6 (EFE) - The life of María Esther Ponce, 'Pelu' to those who know her, was like that of any woman from Río Ceballos (Córdoba) until less than a decade ago; but the discovery of her participation in the 1971 World Cup in Mexico transformed her life: she went from anonymity to occupying the Olympus of women's soccer in Argentina.
