Making plov, national rice dish and jewel of Uzbek cuisine

Tashkent (Uzbekistan), May 23 (EFE) - According to one of the legends, the author of plov, the national rice dish and jewel of Uzbek cuisine, present on the table of every great celebration in this Central Asian country, was none other than Avicenna (980-1037), the Arab sage known as the prince of doctors.

The highly nutritious delicacy was devised by Avicenna to help the son of the emir of Bukhara convalesce, and was so successful that its popularity spread rapidly throughout Central Asia.
