Madrid celebrates Transhumance Festival | Video

Madrid, Oct 20 (EFE) (Camera: Bart) - The main arteries of the city of Madrid will once again host Fiesta de la Trashumancia, with the arrival of the herd, which for the first time will be shepherded by a woman.

Her name is Marity González and in 2018 she became the only mayorala to represent the families of the Real Concejo de la Mesta, the oldest livestock guild known and which in this edition celebrates 750 years since Alfonso X the Wise created it.

This guild aims to recover disused trails and vindicate the role of the sector and extensive livestock farming as a tool for the conservation of biodiversity and the fight against climate change.
