BRAZIL VIOLENCE

Lula is "aware of the amount of shooting industry that has been installed" in Brazil

Brasilia, April 18 (EFE).- The Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, attributed this Tuesday the latest attacks on schools in the country to "hate" that is spread "without rules" on the internet and to arms policies, which he described as an "industry of firing shots".

STATEMENTS BY PRESIDENT LULA DA SILVA; FLAVIO DINO, MINISTER OF JUSTICE; AND ALEXANDRE DE MORAES, PRESIDENT OF THE SUPREME ELECTORAL COURT (TSE).

Lula, President of Brazil: "Violence has existed in our lives since we were born, the periphery is taken over by violence every day and many children and minors die. The new fact is that they invaded a place that for us is considered a place of safety (schools). "

"We could turn our schools into maximum security prisons and we still wouldn't have a solution. We don't even have money for that and it's not politically correct, humanely correct or socially correct."

"We are aware of the amount of shooting industry that has been installed in this country."

"We are not going to solve this with money, we are going to solve it with attitude."

Flavio Dino, Minister of Justice: "This allows us, eloquently and completely, to measure that these are not isolated cases. In fact, it is a criminal network, structured with God knows what parameters or with what inspirations - correcting, the Devil knows with what parameters and inspirations - to recruit our youth for evil."

Alexandre de Moraes, president of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE): "These attacks, instrumentalized, disseminated, encouraged by social networks in relation to schools, are exactly the same as the modus operandi that was used against electronic voting machines, against democracy, on January 8. There is no difference, it is exactly identical. Still, social media feels like no man's land, a lawless land."
