Japan's population declines for 13th consecutive year

Tokyo, Apr 12 (EFE/EPA).- According to data released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on Friday, Japan's total population including foreigners as of October 1, 2023 decreased by 595,000 (0.48 percent) from the previous year to 124,352,000, the 13th consecutive year of decline.

The number of Japanese citizens decreased by 837,000 (0.69 percent) to 121,193,000, marking the largest demographic decline since 1950. (Camera: FRANCK ROBICHON).
