Japanese youth celebrate coming-of-age day

Tokyo, Jan 8 (EFE/EPA).- Thousands of young Japanese adults, dressed in traditional kimonos, gathered to celebrate Coming of Age Day on Monday.

The event, held at the Yokohama Arena, marked an important milestone for those turning 20, the age recognised as adulthood in Japan.

This year, some 35,000 participants commemorated this crucial moment in their lives.

Coming of Age Day is a highly respected tradition in Japan, symbolising the transition from youth to adulthood and the responsibilities that come with it. (Camera: FRANCK ROBICHON).
