Israelis gather in Jerusalem ahead of annual nationalist march
JERUSALEM, May 14 (EFE).— Dozens of Israelis gathered on Thursday near Damascus Gate in Jerusalem’s Old City ahead of the annual Jerusalem Day march.The event commemorates Israel’s capture of East Jerusalem in 1967 and traditionally draws nationalist demonstrations through predominantly Arab areas of the city.Israeli flags were waved near Damascus Gate, where previous editions of the march have seen tensions, provocations and clashes involving far-right Jewish groups and members of the Muslim community.
