Israeli government unanimously decides to shut down Al Jazeera channel in country

Jerusalem, May 5 (EFE) - The Israeli government on Sunday unanimously decided to shut down Qatar's Al Jazeera channel in Israel, after parliament last month passed a law allowing the closure of foreign media.

"The government I head decided unanimously: the incitement channel Al Jazeera will be shut down in Israel," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote on his X account, without elaborating on when the decision will take effect.

In his message, Netanyahu thanked Israeli Communication Minister Shlomo Karhi, who pushed for the rule that allows the government to shut down the national broadcast of the Qatari channel, one of the main sources of information on the war in Gaza due to the large number of journalists it maintains in the enclave.
