Tehran (Iran), March 31 (EFE) - (Camera: Aydin Shayegan) Devout Iranians pray during the 'Nights of Qadr' (of destiny) for God to grant their wishes and forgive their sins, with prayers starting late in the evening and continuing well into the early hours of the morning.

Throughout the country, believers packed mosques and shrines this weekend to participate in this Islamic holiday, which in Iran is celebrated on the nights of the 19th, 21st and 23rd of the month of Ramadan (29 and 31 March and 2 April), the ninth month of the lunar calendar.

In Tehran, hundreds of devotees, who arrived at the Imamzadeh Saleh mausoleum, the shrine of the seventh imam of the Shiites, in the north of the Iranian capital, had to go through a strict security check to enter the enclosure to commemorate the first of the three nights, also called "magical".
