Iran experiences low voter turnout in recent elections

Tehran, Jul 3 (EFE).- "It is a shame for a nation that only 35% or 40% of the people participate in their presidential elections," said Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, in reference to the United States in 2001.

Almost 23 years later, participation in Iran's presidential elections on Wednesday stood at 39.9%, the lowest level in the 45-year history. (Camera: AYDIN SHAYEGAN).
