Ciudad Juárez, Sep 22 (EFE)- The International Red Cross intervened Friday for the first time in Mexico's migration crisis, providing food to nearly 300 people in Ciudad Juárez, in the north of the country. The aid reached the migrants on the Mexican side of the Rio Grande near immigration gate 36, who have suffered violence over the past week, both from the US National Guard and from criminals in Mexico, who have at times prevented them from accessing food and water. The migrants, who arrived by train, crossed the small channel of the Rio Grande and a barbed wire barricade after receiving food to join a camp of about 500 people that was set up between the river and the US-Mexico border fence, where they will wait to be legally processed by immigration authorities.
