PERÚ APEC

Initiative launched in Lima to showcase APEC's impact ahead of hosting in 2024

Lima, Jan 30 (EFE).- Peru's foreign ministry unveiled a new programme on Tuesday designed to engage civil society in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum.

This initiative aims to highlight the impact of the forum's annual meeting on the public, especially as Peru prepares to host the event in 2024.

During an official ceremony at the Cultural Centre of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos in Lima, the Peruvian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Javier González-Olaechea, presented the "APEC Citizen" initiative.

He emphasised the objective of the programme, which is to make APEC activities and outcomes more accessible and relevant to every person in Peru.

González-Olaechea expressed his optimism that APEC will lead to agreements that provide innovative and impactful solutions, responding to citizens' demand for concrete and perceptible results. (Camera: MIKHAIL HUACÁN).
