Indonesia's economic growth slows to 4.94% in 3rd quarter of 2023

Jakarta, Nov 6 (EFE/EPA).- Indonesia has recorded a slowdown in economic growth, expanding by 4.94% in the third quarter of 2023, according to the latest data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).

This is a slowdown from the country's performance in the previous quarter. Jakarta's bustling commercial areas, which usually reflect the country's economic activity, experienced a muted response to the news.

The change in the growth rate comes amid a number of global economic challenges that have affected economies around the world. Indonesia, the top economy in Southeast Asia, is weathering these headwinds reflected in slowing growth.

Despite the slower growth rate, pedestrian activity in business districts continues, albeit with an air of caution, as vendors and businesses adapt to the changing economic landscape.

The slowdown suggests that Indonesia may be feeling the effects of broader global economic trends, and policymakers may need to consider measures to bolster the economy heading into the final quarter of the year. (Camera: MAST IRHAM).
