Indonesians in Banda Aceh receive caning punishment for breaking Sharia law

Banda Aceh, Jul 1 (EFE/EPA).- Four Acehnese on Monday received 20 to 42 lashes for drinking alcohol, known as 'khamar' in sharia law.

Aceh is the only province in Indonesia that has implemented Sharia law and considers gambling, alcohol, lesbian, gay, bisexual relationships and sex outside of marriage as violations of the law. (Camera: HOTLI SIMANJUNTAK).
