Indonesia begins evacuations, cancels flights due to Ruang volcano eruption

North Sulawesi, May 1 (EFE).- The Indonesian authorities began the evacuation of around 12,000 people on Wednesday and closed seven airports due to the Ruang volcanic eruption at the northern tip of the central island of Sulawesi.

Teams from the National Search and Rescue Agency (BASARNAS) evacuated more than 100 people from Tagulandang town, less than five kilometers (3.1 miles) from the volcano. (Camera: HANDOUT).
