A hundred indigenous people protest against Lula's Government for agricultural incentives

Brasilia, June 26 (EFE).- A hundred Brazilian indigenous people protested this Wednesday against the Government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, for the million-dollar aid it grants to the thriving agricultural sector, with which they are in conflict over land ownership.

STATEMENTS BY THE CHIEF KRETÃ KAINGANG; AND FROM NORIVAL DOMENDI, GUARANÍ-KAIOWÁ CHIEF:

KAINGANG:

"Within this catastrophe, we receive crumbs, while agribusiness, at the same time that we of the 'Uprising for the Land' claim our right due to the climate disaster occurred in the south, the government will release 500 billion (reais) for agribusiness."

DOMENDI:

"The strengthening of agribusiness is what has been killing us. This ends up over our (indigenous peoples') ministry and also the indigenous territories end up being killed with this strengthening of agribusiness."
