GUATEMALA HOLY WEEK

Indigenous people of Guatemala attend Good Friday procession

San Andrés Sajcabajá, Mar 29 (EFE).- Dozens participants crawled on Friday more than two kilometers on their knees, barefoot, with crowns of thorns on their heads and with a rosary in their hands, to ask forgiveness for their sins in a K'iche' Mayan village in northwest Guatemala.

The men, known as the 'crawlers', began their journey from the town's Catholic church to the temple of El Calvario, after spending 40 days isolated from their families as part of this particular celebration during Holy Week. (Camera: DAVID TORO).
