Indigenous march in Ecuador against oil pollution in Amazonia | Video

Quito, Mar 12 (EFE).- On Tuesday, a collective of indigenous people from the Amazon region called on the government to turn off more than 400 polluting flares, which burn gas from oil fields in the jungle.

This demand follows a 2021 Constitutional Court ruling that has not yet been implemented by the state.

Despite the court's decision, which ordered the progressive shutdown of these flares within 18 months, activists denounce an increase in the number of active devices, which aggravates pollution in the area. (Camera: JUAN FRANCISCO CHÁVEZ).
