India’s New Delhi faces double crisis of water, heat

New Delhi, Jun 14 (EFE).- New Delhi experienced on Friday a double crisis of water and heat suffocating various neighborhoods.

This was a consequence of the overexploitation of underground reserves, pollution, and interstate water disputes, while its inhabitants lived on the edge, amid summer temperatures of up to 48 degrees.

The water shortage had already become a summer ritual in New Delhi. With no solution in sight, residents were forced to skip showers and rely on public taps to meet their daily needs, while they desperately waited for the arrival of government-provided tanker trucks. (Camera: RITA CARDEIRA).
