Indian main markets close in red amid election results uncertainty

New Delhi, June 4 (EFE).- India's main market indices closed with over a five percent loss on Tuesday, as votes counted so far suggest a narrower margin of victory than expected for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the general elections.

Sensex, an index of the top 30 companies with the highest capitalization in the Indian stock market, closed at 72,079 points, a drop of 5.74 percent, on Tuesday, a day after recording historic highs as exit polls predicted a landslide victory for the BJP. (Camera: RITA CARDEIRA).
