India urges BRICS to play stabilizing global role

NEW DELHI , 14 May (EFE).— India called on the BRICS bloc to play a “constructive and stabilizing” role amid global conflicts, trade tensions and geopolitical fragmentation during a meeting of foreign ministers in New Delhi on Thursday.

Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar urged stronger cooperation among emerging economies as wars and international tensions continue to affect energy security, supply chains and economic growth.

The meeting gathered representatives from countries including Brazil, Russia, China, Iran and United Arab Emirates ahead of the next BRICS leaders summit scheduled for September in New Delhi. (Camera: HANDOUT).
