Illegal mining grows voracious and threatening in Ecuador's Amazon region

Quito, May 31 (EFE) - With hundreds of heavy machinery voraciously removing the subsoil of the rivers of the Ecuadorian Amazon in search of gold, illegal and irregular mining is growing as a threat to the conservation of Ecuador's Amazon rainforest as it advances with unprecedented speed.
