Iconic Peruvian dances, music captivate audiences at historic theatre in Quito

Quito, Dec 7 (EFE).- Peru showcased its most emblematic dances and music on Thursday at the Teatro Nacional de la Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana in Quito.

The auditorium was packed with an audience eager to witness the first performance in Ecuador of the neighbouring country's National Folkloric Ballet. Their show, "Retablo", commemorated the 25th anniversary of peace between the two nations.

The event represented a cultural odyssey through traditional Peruvian dances from the coast, the Andean highlands and the Amazon jungle.

It also featured moving songs by the famous composer Augusto Polo Campos, including the famous "Contigo Perú". (Camera: JUAN FRANCISCO CHÁVEZ).
