IAEA chief Grossi inspects Fukushima decommissioning, water release | Video

Tokyo, Mar 14 (EFE/EPA).- Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), briefed the press at the Foreign Press Centre following his inspection of the decommissioning efforts and the release of treated radioactive water at TEPCO's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

During his visit to Japan from March 12 to 14, 2024, Grossi made his first trip to the nuclear facility since the start of the release of treated radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean.

The inspection was aimed at assessing the progress and safety measures being carried out in the decommissioning process and the handling of radioactive water, which has been a point of international environmental and safety concern. (Camera: KIMIMASA MAYAMA).
