Hurricane Beryl intensifies to Category 3, approaches Mexican Caribbean

Cancun, Mexico, Jul 4 (EFE).- Cyclone Beryl has intensified to a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale and continues to move towards the Yucatan Peninsula.

The first impact is expected off the coast of Quintana Roo in the Mexican Caribbean, according to Mexico's National Meteorological Service (SMN).

The latest NWS report forecasts Beryl to make landfall early Friday morning as a Category 3 hurricane at Tulum, near the municipality of Solidaridad, including the island of Cozumel. (Camera: LOURDES CRUZ).
