Hong Kong prepares to welcome tourists from mainland China during Golden Week

Hong Kong, Apr 28 (EFE/EPA).- On Friday, Hong Kong's tourism sector was preparing for an influx of some 600,000 visitors from mainland China during the Labour Day "Golden Week" holiday, which runs from 29 April to 3 May. According to the Tourism Industry Council, this is the first regular holiday since 2020, when travel between China and Hong Kong was halted due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic.

Tourists can be seen queuing outside popular shopping destinations, such as the Louis Vuitton department store, as they prepare to take advantage of the holiday period.

The influx of visitors is expected to provide a much-needed boost to Hong Kong's tourism and retail sectors, which have been negatively affected by the pandemic and travel restrictions. (Camera: BERTHA WANG).
