Hong Kong, May 8 (EFE/EPA).- Hong Kong's appeals court on Wednesday ruled in favour of the government's request to ban the protest song 'Glory to Hong Kong', which has been linked to the massive anti-government demonstrations in 2019. The ruling overturns a lower court's 2023 decision that had allowed the song, arguing that banning it could undermine freedom of expression and have a chilling effect. The government had sought an injunction to prevent the broadcast of the song, arguing that it had "seditious intentions" and had been mistakenly used in place of China's national anthem, 'March of the Volunteers', at international sporting events.
