US hits new record for daily Covid-19 cases as Omicron spreads

Leesburg, Dec 30 (EFE/EPA).- The US on Wednesday broke the record for the number of new cases of covid-19 in a day since the start of the pandemic, with 488,000 people infected during the day, according to The New York Times.

It should be noted, however, that the Times' figures have not yet been confirmed by the official US Centers for Disease Control (CDC), whose most recent data is from 28 Dec. (Camera: MICHAEL REYNOLDS).
