Hindus on Indonesia's Bali mark purification rite of Melasti

Denpasar, Mar 8 (EFE/EPA).- Hindu devotees on Indonesia's island of Bali on Friday celebrated the purification ceremony of Melasti.

The ceremony was among the events preceding Nyepi Day - Balinese Hindu New Year - that lands on Monday, and which also includes parades of Ogoh-ogoh monster effigies.

Bali is unique in Indonesia as the majority of the island's inhabitants are Hindu devotees, unlike the rest of the archipelago country's population, which follows Islam. (Camera: MADE NAGI).
