High-level diplomatic meetings of UN Security Council, G7 leaders call for de-escalation

United Nations, Apr 14 (EFE) - High-level diplomatic meetings were held on Sunday to discuss Iran's unprecedented airstrike on Israel, with UN Secretary-General António Guterres opening an emergency Security Council meeting by saying "it is time to step back from the brink," and an earlier statement by G7 leaders saying an "uncontrollable regional escalation" must be avoided.

At the UN, the entire international community, including Iran, was united in a plea to avoid escalation in the Middle East. (Camera: HANDOUT).
