Haley struggles to rally support against Trump in home state primary

South Caroline, Feb 23 (EFE/EPA).- Republican presidential hopeful Nikki Haley struggled to draw a significant crowd in her home state of South Carolina at her last rally before the state's Republican primary.

Despite her efforts and accomplishments as the state's former governor, only a few hundred supporters turned out at Patriots Point, where Haley trails Donald Trump by a 30 percent margin in the latest polls.

Haley criticised both Joe Biden and Donald Trump in her speech, but failed to muster the enthusiasm needed to overcome Trump's lead.

Attendees expressed strong opposition to Trump, with some saying they would vote for anyone but him if Haley did not win the nomination.

The lack of enthusiasm was palpable, and Haley's campaign merchandise, including T-shirts with the slogan “Go ahead and underestimate me, that'll be fun," had no takers. (Camera: JIM LO SCALZO).
