"Grândola, Vila Morena", the iconic song of Portuguese Revolution

Lisbon, Apr 22 (EFE).- (Camera: Brian Bujalance) It not only marked the beginning of the Carnation Revolution on 25 April 1974. The "Grândola, Vila Morena" unexpectedly became an anthem of freedom for the Portuguese and has traveled around the world through more than a hundred versions. The song by the Portuguese Zeca Afonso was heard on the radio at 00:25 hours on April 25, 1974, as it was the second signal to start the military mobilization that would return democracy to Portugal.
