Government steps in to support Indonesians facing high rice costs

Tangerang, Feb 22 (EFE/EPA). On Thursday, the Indonesian government took an important step to support its citizens amid rising rice prices by distributing food aid.

At a local district office, residents queued up to receive 10 kg bags of rice, a strategic move to maintain the community's purchasing power in the face of soaring market prices.

President Joko Widodo highlighted the global rise in rice prices and identified extreme climate change as a critical factor in the reduction of rice production in Indonesia, which has led to significant crop losses. (Camera: ADI WEDA).
