François Pomès, the Frenchman who figured out who Marilyn Monroe's father was

Paris, May 8 (EFE).- (Camera: María D. Valderrama) It has taken more than three years for Frenchman François Pomès, producer and director of documentaries, to meet the challenge that he had set himself to honour Marilyn Monroe on the 60th anniversary of the actress's death: discover who her father was through the most advanced analysis.

"I think one of the fissures that makes Marilyn's destiny what it was is the absence of her parents. And more particularly that of her father," Pomès says in an interview with EFE days before the premiere, on May 11, of his film "Marilyn Monroe, la dernière vérité" (Marilyn Monroe, the last truth).

1.- "Four years ago I thought about what film I could make for the 60th anniversary of Marilyn's death that would provide different information from all the documentaries about Marilyn and hundreds of biographies out there. I realized that there was only one missing piece of information: the identity of his biological father."

2.- "Marilyn Monroe grew up without her parents. Gladys, her mother, spent half her life in psychiatric hospitals, she was very unstable and Marilyn went from orphanages to foster families. She never knew her father. Some of Marilyn's pain is tied to this abandonment, to that family framework that she did not have."
