France, Brazil agree to 1 billion euro deal to preserve Amazon

Belém, Mar 26 (EFE).- On Tuesday, French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Brazil made headlines by focusing on climate change and the preservation of the Amazon rainforest.

On his first day, Macron met with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the Amazonian city of Belém, where they announced a major investment plan.

This plan includes a €1 billion agreement to finance sustainable development projects aimed at reducing pollution and preserving the Amazon.

The visit, rich in symbolic environmental gestures, underlines the commitment of both leaders to environmental causes, and Macron also showed his support for the rights of indigenous peoples in Brazil. (Camera: WALLACE CARVALHO).
