Folklore funeral of ham bone at the Assumption celebrations in Liège, Belgium

Liège (Belgium), Aug 16 (EFE).- People gather to attend the Burial of Mati l'Ohe folkloric act at the end of the Assumption of Mary celebrations in Liège, Belgium.

After two days of eating and drinking to celebrate the Assumption of Mary, Mati l'Ohe (Matthew the Ham Bone) is taken in a funeral procession and buried.

Mourners follow the procession, expressing their pain by crying, moaning and throwing celery sticks. The event ends a two-day festive period.
