Farmers demonstrate in south-eastern France to demand policy changes in sector

Valence d'Agen / Saint Loup (France), Jan 22 (EFE/EPA).- (Camera: Caroline Blumberg) A group of French farmers have blocked the A9 motorway south of Perpignan to the Spanish border on Monday, as part of protests to demand changes in national and European policy for the sector.

Several dozen participants in the protest staged a sit-in on the motorway in the France-Spain direction shortly before 12 noon local time (11:00 GMT), which completely disrupted the flow of vehicles.

Nearby, some 300 farmers with tractors also occupied the toll.
