Bogota, May 16 (EFE).- Colombia's National University on Wednesday ordered the evacuation of the main campus in Bogota due to violent clashes between hooded demonstrators and police during a student protest. The university's vice-rector declared a red alert and ordered the campus evacuated as a precautionary measure. The clashes, which have paralysed the area, began after protesters blocked traffic on Carrera 30, prompting police intervention. The unrest follows a long-running crisis at the university since the controversial election of José Ismael Peña as rector for the 2024-2027 term. (Camera: JUAN DIEGO LÓPEZ).
