Elma Saiz defends the positive role of immigration for the global economy

Washington, April 18 (EFE).- The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration of Spain, Elma Saiz, defended this Thursday the positive role of immigration for the global economy and affirmed that in this world there is no place for the inflammatory anti-immigration messages of Donald Trump or Vox, nor for the complicity of the Popular Party with xenophobic parties.

STATEMENTS BY THE MINISTER OF INCLUSION, SOCIAL SECURITY AND MIGRATION OF SPAIN, ELMA SAIZ: They do not belong, people who link and talk about contaminating blood or people who tear leaflets announcing Ramadan, they do not belong. That is why it is incomprehensible how agreements can be reached, as there are in our country, in this case of the Popular Party, which can reach agreements with Vox in some administrations. Of course, you will always find in me the same answer: total forcefulness against any outbreak, any hint of messages that want to link migration to negative aspects. I have given you a fact that is more than convincing and that is that our Social Welfare protection system needs this wealth. Migrants are wealth. The challenge is an opportunity for our country, and in this case, moreover, the United States and Spain share the challenge from many points of view. So racist messages, xenophobic messages, xenophobic policies do not fit in with social democracy and do not fit in with the values and principles that, of course, the Spanish Government defends.
