Elephant cools off in Florida with firefighter's hose

Miami, Jun 22 (EFE) - The elephant "Ongard" at Zoo Miami was able to take a refreshing summer shower on Wednesday thanks to a team of firefighters from Miami-Dade County (Florida) who used a fire hydrant in the park to connect the hose and bathe the pachyderm at ease, Zoo Miami said in a statement.

This was the first time the 11-year-old Asian elephant, affectionately known as "Ardy," had undergone such an experience, so he was "apprehensive" at first.

"Ongard" not only enjoyed the cool water on his rough, thick skin, but also took advantage of the large mud puddles created by the water to wallow.
