Eiffel Tower evacuated due to bomb alert

Paris (France), Aug 12 (EFE/EPA) - (Camera: Mohammed Badra) The iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris and its surroundings were evacuated on Saturday, following the usual protocol, following a bomb alert, police sources confirmed.

The monument was cleared at around 13.30 local time (11.30 GMT) and the area was temporarily closed to the public.

It is a "precautionary measure" and the origin of the bomb alert is currently unknown, police sources told local newspaper Le Parisien.
