Ecuadorian indigenous people stand strong in their protests: "We will not leave without an answer".

Quito, Jun 26 (EFE), (Camera: Juan Francisco Chávez) - The tiredness of two intense and hard weeks of protests can be seen on their faces, but the spirit of the thousands of indigenous people who declare themselves "in a state of struggle" against the Government of Ecuador continues this Sunday more than firm, inflamed by the deaths of demonstrators registered in the last days.

From practically every corner of the country they arrived in Quito a week ago to make themselves felt more strongly in the capital, which received them with tear gas, the same that they have breathed almost daily in long and tense days of pulse with the security forces and of scarce and uncomfortable rest.

Statement by Nayra Chalán, Ecuarunari vice-president:

From here we are not going to leave without an answer, that has been a decision taken, we are not going to leave without an answer, the peasant comrades who have really seen our economies suffocated, we have said: we are going to sacrifice this time of mobilization but we are going to sacrifice it because we are really going to achieve what we have proposed. So we say, and we demand social justice and these 10 points seek to minimally balance the unbalanced balance we are living in this country.
